This is what the Kujaraho temples are best known for: the depiction of all kinds of - sometimes rather acrobatic - sexual positions. According to Tantric belief, sexual desire - like all other bodily desires - has to be embraced and fulfilled as part of human nature before one can aspire to higher and more abstract levels of existence. It is somewhat sad to notice how this sublime teaching has been reduced to touristy sensationalism in our days - simply shed whatever moralistic or voyeuristic precepts and motifs you might carry as part of your mental baggage and cherish the unbelievable beauty of these displays of human bodies, and human lust. As I looked at these statues I suddenly found myself humming an old "Yes"-tune called "Miracle of Life".
